Share Recovery by Company: Find the Company on Your Certificate

Most families start with a name on an old certificate. Each listed company has its own registrar, its own history of bonus issues, splits and mergers, and its own records of unpaid dividends and shares transferred to IEPF. This page lists the companies we have written about so far. If yours is not here, the same process applies and we can still take up the case.

Quick answer

Shares of any listed company remain claimable by the holder or the legal heirs, whether they are still with the company or have moved to the IEPF. The first step is to confirm, with that company's registrar, what the old certificate represents today.

Companies covered

More company pages are being added. For a company not listed here, start with share recovery services.

What changes from company to company

  • The registrar. Every request goes to the company's registrar and share transfer agent, and registrars change over time.
  • Corporate history. Renamings, mergers, demergers, bonus issues and sub-divisions change what an old certificate represents.
  • Where the holding sits. Shares may be with the company, in a suspense account or in the IEPF.

What stays the same

  • The holder or the legal heirs remain the claimant throughout.
  • Records are corrected first: KYC, name, signature, bank details and heirship.
  • Shares are released in demat form to the claimant's own account.
  • Shares in IEPF are claimed on Form IEPF-5 after the company confirms entitlement, with no time limit.

If the company no longer exists under that name

Where a company has merged or been renamed, the holding usually continues in the successor company. Where a company has been struck off or liquidated, the position needs a case-by-case review. See our old share certificates value check.

How Expertvuw helps

  1. Case review. We identify the company, its present name and registrar, and what the certificate represents today.
  2. Tracing and records. We confirm the holding and identify what must be corrected first.
  3. Documents and follow-up. We prepare the papers for your signature and follow up until the claim is decided.
  4. Credit. Shares and dividends are credited to your own accounts.

Frequently asked questions

My company is not on this list. Can you still help?

Yes. The list shows the companies we have published pages for; the recovery process applies to shares of any listed company. Share the company name and what you hold, and we will review the case.

How do I find out who the registrar for a company is?

The company's annual report and the investor section of its website name its registrar and share transfer agent. Registrars change over time, so an address on an old certificate or letter may be out of date.

I hold shares in several companies. Is each one a separate claim?

Each company and folio has its own records and its own request, but the heirship and KYC papers are largely common. We organise them together so the family signs once wherever that is possible.

Do bonus shares and splits get added automatically?

They are added in the company's records, but physical bonus certificates that were returned undelivered may be held back by the company or transferred to IEPF. The registrar confirms the full present holding.
